Brewery reviews- Kentucky

March 31, 2017

Against The Grain Brewery & Smokehouse

401 East Main Street, Louisville, KY

Founded: 2011

Last visit: November 2017

Nice: The beer names are as quirky as the brews are good.

Interesting work by local artists adorns the walls.

Located at Louisville Slugger field, home to the Reds' AAA team the Bats and the Louisville City Football Club. (Not American football.)

Stupid: This has nothing to do with the brewery but most locals pronounce 'Louisville' like they have three tongues.

Notes: The closest parking is metered so be aware of the time.

Favorite beer: Bo & Luke (imperial stout)

Food: Full menu featuring delicious barbecue dishes.

Rating: 🍺🍺  Definitely go.

Apocalypse Brew Works

1612 Mellwood Avenue, Louisville, KY

Founded: 2012

Last visit: November 2015

Nice: The taproom is called The Fallout Shelter.

The apocalyptic theme culminates with their slogan, 'Drink Beer 'Til The End'.

Stupid: As if having a cat in the brewery isn't stupid enough, you'll get yelled at when you open the door because it likes to run away.

Notes: Not to be confused with Apocalypse Ale Works in Virginia.

Favorite beer: Fallout Dust (brewed with peppercorn)

Food: No food served.

Rating: 🍺  Skippable.
